HEY HALIFAX! We are launching our zine & we’d love to come celebrate:

Make the Wind Blow… a zine on music & resistance.

Where? 5684 Roberts Street (Roberts Street Social Centre)
When? Saturday, August 28th 7pm
How much? This event is free! Zines will be for sale!

Make the Wind Blow is a compilation of stories, articles, profiles and art that celebrates inspirational figures in music.  
Our zine explores the political use of music as means for building community, self-representation, shared histories and social justice. This zine also includes a mix cd and silkscreened art cards!

Some profiles include: 

-White cultural appropriation of music belonging to artists of colour such as Big Mama Thornton

-Musicians boycotting Israel and historical links to musicians who boycotted south African apartheid

-The incredible Vaginal Davis who uses punk and drag to explore themes on blackness, queerness and gender
