1) Dinner and a Movie  – Fargo served with pancakes – Sunday March 28, 6pm
Nicole and Keith present the classic Coen brothers film, Fargo, set in the city of the same name, that'll have you talking like a North Dakotan all week.
Using Nicole's family recipe (she's from Manitoba, just a little north of where the film takes place), they'll serve up a mid-west diner-style feast, with pancakes, fruit topping, whipped cream and genuine Aunt Jemima maple syrup (Vegan french toast can be substituted for pancakes).
Oh yah, eh?
Please email semaphorecinema@gmail.com to reserve seats, because there is only room for 14. Admission is $8.

2) Cataloguing!!! – Monday March 29 and Thursday April 1,

Ever wonder how you can help out the center? We are in the process of cataloguing all our zines in a digital catalogue. Come by anytime for some tea, popcorn, and zine cataloguing.

3) Popular Education Paula Cameron -– Wednesday, March 31, 7pm
Paula Cameron will give a talk titled "Larger than life: The 19th century giantess Anna Swan as popular educator.
The Popular Education talks are a series of lectures, discussions, slide shows, show & tell and other kinds of presentations that take place in the Crow's Nest at the Roberts Street Social Centre. The talks are organized in the spirit of providing free access to education and information, inspiring critical discussion and fighting the winter blues.

4) Call for Artists—Anarchist Black Cross Art Auction Fundraiser
The Halifax Anarchist Black Cross is holding an art auction on May 1st as a fundraiser for Oso Blanco (Byron Shane Chubbuck), a Native American political prisoner.   All the money raised will go towards Oso Blanco’s legal fees.  He has been forced to hire a lawyer due to consistent mistreatment and abuse by prison authorities.  To do this, we need your help!  We cannot make all the art ourselves and are asking people to contribute artwork to the cause.  We are looking for art of any medium including but not limited to drawings, paintings, photography, silk screenings, super 8 films, ready-mades, ceramics, sound sculptures; if its art, we want it!  Ideally, we are hoping to get all the potential pieces in our grubby little hands by April 14th so we can have them up on our online gallery before the auction.   More information will be available closer to May 1st.  If you’re interested and curious, we can be contacted at halifaxabc@riseup.net
