Since 2007 we have opened our arms and shed to special summertime guests for the residency program. Residencies run seasonally at The Roberts Street Social Centre, from June to September each year. Residencies are two weeks long, and residents are provided with space, equipment and support for their project as well as living space in a garden shed in the backyard of the Centre.  

We are interested in proposals for projects that embody the same sort of do-it-yourself spirit as the Social Centre, and that contribute in some way to the community and/or the space.

Applications for 2012 are due February 24, 2012. The 2012 application and information sheet are attached below. We are excited to welcome this year’s group of shed residents. Look for them this summer!

Plans were underway for the upcoming year of residencies, but big changes are underway. We do not know where the centre will be located after May 1, 2012, and although we hope to continue to provide the same resources and facilities, this will be hard to predict for the upcoming summer.

We hope to still offer a residency program in 2012, possibly collaborating with other local organizations or relying on help from community members to house and support residents and their projects. We have decided to continue to accept applications. However we do anticipate choosing fewer residents. Our mandate and goals remain unchanged, even if most of the information in the Residency Information document is location-specific.
