4th Annual 24 Hour Zine Challenge! July 24 & 25

Introducing the 4th annual 24-Hour Zine Challenge!
Friday July 24th at 5pm until Saturday July 25th at 5pm
at the Roberts Street Social Centre – 5684 Roberts Street

Come celebrate the 4th anniversary of the Anchor Archive Zine Library with a full day of zine-making activities! The Roberts Street Social Centre houses the Anchor Archive Zine Library, Ink Storm Screenprinting Collective, and the People’s Photocopier. We’ll be open for a full 24 hours!

Register for the 24-Hour Zine Challenge and make your first zine ever, collaborate on a zine with a friend, finish a zine you’ve been putting off forever, develop a zine idea you’ve already had, or just come and make up something totally new. Zines can be as long or short as you like, in any format, and all ages and experience levels are totally welcome to participate.

We have lots of zine making supplies – paper, clip art, pens and pencils and scissors and glue sticks, paper cutters, long-armed heavy-duty stapler, typewriters, computers, printers, a photocopier, screenprinting and block printing materials. You are welcome to stay at Roberts Street for the whole time, or you can work on your zine at home or wherever you want.

If you’re not ready to commit to making a whole zine, come by at any time to check out what is going on and contribute to a collaborative zine that will be made as well. Be sure to stop by at the end and see the zines that got made!

Zines are self-published magazines made outside of mainstream press and media, by all kinds of people about all kinds of things. Zine making is simple and inexpensive, and is a means of expressing yourself using writing, art, comics, or a combination. Zines can share information and tell stories in a radical way.

Come and check out a display of zines made in previous 24 Hour Zine Challenges at the Anchor Archive Zine Library during our open hours – Sunday 2-5 or Tuesday 6-9.

To register, or for more information, please email anchorarchive@robertsstreet.org or phone 446-1788.
