1. Kebob kick-off party (Queer and Rebel days)- Friday, July 10, 7pm
meet some folks and discuss, among other things, the importance of challenging consumerism and assimilation (and talk about what those words mean) while eating free tofu kebobs.

2. Queer Costume, bike ride, water-fight, Saturday July 11, 11-3pm
11am-2pm- bike fixing, costume making, water balloon filling, face painting, target practice etc.
2pm- the bike ride leaves 5684 Roberts st.

3. Queer Performance Night- Saturday July 11, 8pm
There are a variety of performances ranging from drag to music and spoken word. There is an open mic afterwards. Our current artist in resident, Russel Edworthy, will also be performing on this night.

4. Queer expressions art fair and workshops (Queer and Rebel Days)- Sunday July 12, 12-5pm
There will be zine making, button making, patch making and hair cutting stations and there will also be art for sale by and for Queers and their allies. Russel Edworthy will have some of his art on display and possibly for sale.
there will be an optional erotic porn writing workshop from 1:30 - 2:30pm!!!

5. Are you queer enough? – discussion (Queer and Rebel Days), Sunday July 12, 3pm
We will discuss the peer-policing of queer identities in the queer/gay community
There will also be a story telling element, where folks can speak to times they did not feel 'queer enough' and what that even means.
This will be followed by a collaborative zine making workshop for those interested.

6. Lunch Time Discussions (Queer and Rebel Days) Monday July 13-Thursday July 16, 12-2pm
There will be some free food and a few folks hanging around to discuss any topics that might have been missed, and to just generally hang out. Also, the button-maker and zine making supplies will be available.

7. How to be an Ally discussion (Queer and Rebel Days)- Monday July 13, 7pm
Have you even wondered how to be an ally, not just to queer or trans folk, but in general?
We will discuss principles and tactics of how to be a supportive ally.

8. Flag Wars screening (Queer and Rebel Days) – Tuesday July 14, 7pm
From the film's description: "A cinema verite documentary that follows the conflicts that arise when gay white professionals move into a black working-class neighborhood. Filmed over four years in Columbus, Ohio and leads viewers on an eye-opening journey."

9. Queer Activist History: Guest Speaker and Discussion (Queer and Rebel Days) - Wednesday July 15, 7pm
We will talk about some historical moments of queer activism, and discuss where current activism is headed now. This is an opportunity to meet other folks interested in queer activist actions.

10. Wrap-up with Wraps (Queer and Rebel Days)- Thursday July 16, 6pm
Feedback and reflection- did anything make you uncomfortable? Did we miss anything? We want your feedback! This event is also a space for direct action planning- Are there any actions you want to see happen? Are you interested in being an active queer activist? Come to this event!
Also, come eat some free wraps!

11. Artist in residence- Russel Edworthy (Calgary) – July 1-14
Russel’s going to use the Ink Storm Screenprinting Studio to compile a compendium of information regarding Secret Space Inhabitants (monsters, creatures, denziens of Halifax and the Atlantic Shore). As a creative field guide, Russel will also host a campfire seminar introducing us to these little-known Secret Space Inhabitants.

12. Screenprinting- Three Part Project Class
Wed. July 15, 22 & 29 (7-9pm).
$75 for all three classes

In this workshop you will get step-by-step hands on instruction in
screenprinting in order to complete your own project. You get your own
screen to work with and we will cover coating the screen
with emulsion, image design with and without computers, exposing and
burning techniques, mixing your own inks, printing on your choice of
paper or fabric, and stripping the screen.

This class is designed for people who have already taken the 2hour
Intro to Screenprinting workshop with InkStorm or have some previous experience.
The cost is $75 for all three classes and all screens, emulsion, and
inks are included. The only thing you need to bring is fabric of paper for printing in the final class.

Do some crafting and chatting with friendly folks.

14. Tabling at Sappyfest
You are cordially invited to show/sell your stuff at the most lovely SappyFest small press/zine/and craft fair this Aug 1of 2009, 12 – 4 pm.
We are looking for crafters, zinesters, and small press type folk to make this weekend really nice. This event is presented in collaboration with Conundrum Press and the Anchor Archive Zine Library. Special guests include Andy Brown, James Kirkpatrick, Elisabeth Belliveau and a bunch of other readers.
Tables cost $15 per day (you can share). Deadline is July 17th. (please note that the cost for the table does not include a ticket to the music festival)
